Found in 1874 near Via Ariosto, this marble cup is one of the most ancient finds in the area. It is decorated with plant and floral motifs and its refined execution reveals the hand of a skilled sculptor. It comes from the demolition of a small bath building from the time of the Emperor Maxentius, but was probably made in the middle of the 2nd century AD and must have been part of a fountain in some garden.
